The World Right Now
It has been a week since the the Paris attack which occurred on the 13th of November. Still to this day my heart breaks seeing reports of the after math caused by this violence.
My heart not only breaks for Paris but for the whole world. These days we are faced with so much violence on a day to day basis and there's not much we as civilians can do about it. I don't think it's a lack of people not trying to help but being scared of what will happen if they do. It's scary to think that these kinds of things can happen to us. We often see this violence occurring in third world countries and I think it shows us how great our life is because we see how bad others have it. This doesn't mean we're ignorant or boasting about the fact that our life isn't as bad but it's a realization that these things do happen and the people who terrorize our world have it all planned out way before the violence begins.
I've always been aware of these attacks whether I would see it on the news or on social media. Some of them have impacted me and some haven't at all. But for some reason the Paris attack really made me feel helpless. I went to Paris in the summer of 2014 and it was one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited. I think maybe that's why, because of the memories I have, it hurts knowing that innocent people died and were seriously injured because of others' actions.
Thinking that that could've been me or someone I knew, whether it happened in Paris or in my home city, at this moment I can't shake the feeling of how the people and families of those who lost someone or were there during the attack felt.
We cannot live in fear but we also cannot live obliviously to the problems facing our world.
I pray for not only Paris and anyone affected on the 13th of November, but for the whole world.
