My Braces Experience

My Braces Experience

After two and a half years, I finally got my braces removed today. It was such a long process but I can honestly say that it was worth it.

I really don't remember that much when I got them on. All I remember was eating poutine right after I got them on and later that day my teeth were killing me for a couple days after that. I ate loads of mashed potatoes, soup and pudding. But from then on every appointment was just changing and adjusting things in my mouth.

I was originally supposed to have my braces on for a little bit over a year but me being me I decided that when they gave me elastics to wear to help keep my teeth in place and align my mouth properly, I thought "oh these aren't that important " so I hardly wore them until my orthodontist told me that not wearing my elastics was the only thing keeping me from removing my braces. After receiving all that information, I wore my elastics 24/7. Sometimes I wouldn't even take them off to eat or I would double up at night.

Other than that, the last couple months before getting them off were nothing special. I've just been looking forward to this day since I made the appointment back in April.

The removal process was so simple and didn't hurt. It took probably an hour to take out everything and to just clean up my teeth. They also gave me a retainer that I'll be wearing all the time for the first year.

I can honestly say that having braces made my teeth so beautiful (obviously) and as of right now I feel like a different person with nice teeth haha!!
